Arjen Robben to return for Bayern Munich, Franck Ribery concerns grow

Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben hopes to make his first appearance for the club since August in Saturday's meeting with Cologne, but Franck Ribery is reported to have suffered a fresh setback.

Robben, 31, has suffered a series of injury problems over recent months, tearing an abdominal muscle in March, suffering a setback immediately after his return in April and then picking up a groin problem on international duty with Netherlands last month.

However, he hopes to be back in action for Bayern when Cologne visit the Allianz Arena this weekend.

"I feel very good," Robben told kicker. "I have trained with the under-23s. It looks good for Saturday. If things continue like that, I will return on Saturday."

Bayern defender Medhi Benatia is also set to return to team training next week following a muscle injury, but former France international Ribery is reported to have suffered yet another setback.

The 32-year-old winger has not featured for Bayern since mid-March due to an ankle injury but appeared to be making progress when he began running again.

However, Bild reported that his training session on Wednesday came to an end after only 17 minutes after fresh ankle problems occurred.

Meanwhile, defender Holger Badstuber is back in training at the club's Sabener Strasse base as he continues to rebuild his fitness.

The 26-year-old Germany international has yet to fully recover from the anterior cruciate ligament tear he suffered in December 2012, although he made a brief return to action last season.

According to Stuttgarter Zeitung, the centre-back could leave Bayern on loan in the winter break and join strugglers Stuttgart on a six-month deal to give him a chance to accelerate his return by playing regular first-team football.
