Arjen Robben out for four weeks after Netherlands injury, Bayern confirm

Bayern Munich have confirmed that Arjen Robben will be out for four weeks after the winger limped out of Netherlands' 1-0 defeat to Iceland on Thursday.

Robben, 31, left the pitch only 31 minutes into his country's damaging Euro 2016 qualifying loss at the Amsterdam Arena after picking up a groin injury.

Bayern had announced that Robben was likely to miss Netherlands' crucial trip to Turkey on Sunday, and the winger will now sit out a month of action.

Netherlands sit third in Group A with three games remaining, and trail Czech Republic -- whose current standing of second would secure direct qualification for the tournament in France next year -- by six points.

The Oranje are one point ahead of Sunday's opponents Turkey, but Blind said after Thursday's game that Robben would not travel to Istanbul.

Sunderland midfielder Jeremain Lens has been called into the squad to replace Robben, the Premier League club have announced.

"It's just beyond me. I was totally fit, and thus I can't and don't want to believe that it has happened," Robben told reporters after the game, adding that a rough duel close to the box was the cause of the injury.

"Something got stuck in my back, and after that I wasn't really able to move well. And then it radiated into the groin. It soon became clear that I could not carry on, because I was not able to bring any power to the left side."

The Bayern winger has struggled with injuries for the past six months. He suffered an abdominal muscle injury in March, and was ruled out for the remainder of the season when tearing a calf muscle only 16 minutes into his comeback in late April.

Robben has started all three games of the new Bundesliga season, but has yet to complete a full 90 minutes.
