Tottenham's Dele Alli: Man United win a 'statement' to Premier League

Dele Alli believes the victory over Manchester United on Monday served as a statement of Tottenham Hotspur's ambition to win the Premier League.

Tottenham won 3-0 at Old Trafford on Monday, handed United their largest home defeat since March 2014 and became one of four teams to win their first three league games this season.

"I think, obviously, it was a great result," Alli told ESPN Brasil ahead of Tottenham's game against Watford on Sunday. "It was a very tough game.

"I think, sometimes the score -- it can change people's opinions, but we know what we have to do as a team. It was a great result but it wasn't a perfect performance by any means. There's still a lot we have to work on and we know that."

Alli, who scored in the opening win at Newcastle United, said the team's challenge remains to not be satisfied with their performances thus far.

"I think it's definitely a statement, but we have to just keep believing in ourselves and not let anyone else's focus on us get in the way and just focus on the next game now," Alli said.
