Mario Gotze decision must wait - Bayern Munich CEO Rummenigge

Bayern Munich will not discuss Mario Gotze's future until the end of the season as they seek to focus on "the crucial weeks" of their campaign.

After finding himself out of favour for several weeks, Gotze has started the last four Bundesliga games, assisting two goals, but he continues to be linked with a summer transfer.

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed they would consider re-signing the Germany international, whose contract expires in 2017, while Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is reported to be keen on working with the midfielder again.

However, Bayern want to keep their focus on the run-in as they target success in the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and Champions League, and club CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told reporters on Tuesday that the matter will only be considered once the campaign is concluded.

"We have now entered the crucial weeks. The crucial games start with our match tomorrow [Wednesday] evening and hopefully don't end next Tuesday," Rummenigge said, in reference to the two legs of Bayern's Champions League semifinal with Atletico Madrid.

"We now focus on the important games and after that, if it is what Mario wants, we'll talk internally about his future. You'll need a bit more patience."

Gotze has already said that he might not make a decision until after the European Championship in France this summer and wants to hold talks with incoming coach Carlo Ancelotti.

A return to Dortmund may be difficult as many of the club's supporters remain unhappy about Gotze's acrimonious move to Bayern in 2013.

Some fans even produced a strongly worded banner to register their opposition to his return earlier this month, but Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke said this week that he did not believe there was an insurmountable problem.

"If he returns we have to talk with the fans and he has to explain how he left for Bayern, but I don't think that they won't give him a second chance," Watzke said on Sky.
