Monaco boss quiet on Chelsea's Radamel Falcao amid MLS talk

Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim has declined to address rumours that Radamel Falcao will return from Chelsea amid reports that the out-of-favour forward would eventually like to move to Major League Soccer.

Chelsea signed Falcao, 29, on a season-long loan deal in July but last month it was reported that they were looking to cut his stay short.

After failing to live up to expectations in another loan spell at Manchester United last season, the Colombia international has played only 10 times this campaign.

Falcao has started just one league game and his only goal came in the defending Premier League champions' 2-1 home defeat against Crystal Palace in August.

L'Equipe reports that the ex-Atletico Madrid player hopes to rediscover some form at Monaco in the second half of the season before seeking a move to the United States.

Speaking on Thursday, however, Jardim refused to be drawn on Falcao's future.

"I don't speak about players who aren't here," the ex-Sporting Lisbon boss told a news conference. "We work with those who are here. Falcao has been loaned out by Monaco.

"Our target hasn't turned towards that -- it's to win at Troyes [on Saturday]."

Falcao joined Monaco for a reported €60 million in the summer of 2013 but he has not looked the same player since returning from a cruciate ligament injury he suffered in January 2014.

The ex-River Plate and Porto front man, who turns 30 in February, is earning a reported €14m annual salary and has over two years left on his contract at Monaco.

Meanwhile, Jardim did confirm that he would be looking to reduce his squad in January now that Monaco have been knocked out of both the Europa League and the Coupe de la Ligue.
