Sevilla sporting director Monchi has offers from France, England and Italy

Sevilla's outgoing sporting director Monchi has said he has the opportunity to work for clubs in England, France and Italy.

Monchi, 48, who announced his departure from Sevilla last week after 17 years with them, said he had not chosen which club to join but was "close to making a decision."

He told Cadena Ser: "Roma is the club that has shown the most interest in me and they want to wait for me.

"There are other offers from France and England, but not as concrete."

Monchi met Roma president James Pallotta in London last week and said he "likes" the club's project.

But he added: "It's not a done deal yet. They have shown me their project and I'm considering it.

"They've told me what they want from me and I told them how I work. But I have no pressure and I'm not in a hurry.

"I also have to analyse other options. Roma will not wait for me eternally, but I'm close to making a decision."

Monchi stressed that he would not work for another club in Spain after it was reported last month that Real Madrid were interested.

"I'm a Sevillista and I would only work at Sevilla in Spain," he said. "That is why I'm going abroad."

Monchi, who has helped Sevilla win nine trophies, including five Europa League titles, has set himself a period of up to a month before ceasing all activities with Sevilla.

The club are expected to pay tribute to his work at the Sanchez Pizjuan stadium ahead of the league game against Deportivo La Coruna on April 8.
