Javier Pastore: Juventus made approach, but I am happy at PSG

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore said he was "grateful to clubs for seeking me out" over the summer, but stressed that he was happy in the French capital.

Pastore, 26, said he had never had any intention of leaving the Parc des Princes during the transfer window, having signed a contract extension in June.

The Argentina international told ESPN FC Argentina radio 107.9: "There was talk of Juventus because they had made an approach.

"But there was no intention on the part of PSG to sell me -- nor was there any intention on my part to leave.

"I am very grateful to the clubs for seeking me out, but at this time I am doing very well right here."

He said PSG would benefit from the arrival of his countryman Angel Di Maria, who joined from Manchester United earlier in the summer.

The ex-Real Madrid attacker scored only four goals in 32 games for United and moved on just a year after becoming the British record signing in a £59.7 million deal.

"I am really happy he has joined us because he is Argentine and because I get along really well with him," Pastore said.

"He is an incredible player, and he can give us so much. He can make a difference for the team."

Last season, Laurent Blanc's side became first in French football history to win Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, the Coupe de la Ligue and the Trophee des Champions in one campaign.

Pastore said the players were eager to repeat the feat but also set his sights on success in the Champions League, in which they were beaten in the last eight by Barcelona last season.

"We had hoped to have better luck in the draw," he said after PSG ended up alongside Real Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk and Malmo in Group A.

"But in the Champions League we have shown important growth. We went out in the quarterfinals -- but we lost against Barcelona, who are above all the others.

"This [the PSG project] started four years ago, and we have gone and added really good players each year, little by little.

"The team knows each other and plays well together. We have improved a lot. To have won the four titles last year is something really important. We want to do it again this year."
