Angel Di Maria delighted with Paris Saint-Germain debut

Angel Di Maria revealed his delight at having "the opportunity to play with the best" after setting up a goal on his Paris Saint-Germain debut.

Di Maria, 27, came off the bench after 66 minutes against Monaco on Sunday and having seen Edinson Cavani nearly score from his first pass, the €63 million signing from Manchester United then teed up Ezequiel Lavezzi to notch a debut assist in a 3-0 win for the French champions.

"I was impatient to pull on this shirt," the former Benfica and Real Madrid man is quoted as saying by Footmercato. "Everything went well for me. My introduction into the game went well, I felt at ease and was able to provide an assist."

"It's always easy to play with great players, and PSG have a lot of them. The club have managed to strengthen the team, but also to keep other spectacular players such as Thiago Motta. He extended his contract a few days ago. I'm happy, because I have the opportunity to play with the best."

The victory in Monaco means PSG have won all four league games this season without conceding a goal, leaving them three points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table.

Many pundits have suggested the reigning champions are already on course for a fourth successive title, even at this early stage of the campaign.

PSG defender David Luiz, however, has dismissed such talk.

"Do you know maths?" he is quoted as saying by RMC. "Of course it's not over. We have to stay humble, keep our feet on the ground and work hard every week."
