Former Marseille striker Andre-Pierre Gignac has been named Liga MX Apertura MVP after his goals helped fire Tigres to victory over Pumas in the final.
Gignac, 30, scored in both legs of the decider and in the penalty shootout after Sunday's second match as Tigres won a breathtaking tie that had finished 4-4 on aggregate following extra-time.
Gignac scored 15 goals in 21 games for Tigres on his way to winning his first title since moving to Mexico over the summer.
The former Lorient and Toulouse player earned a recall to the France squad as a result of his scintillating form and found the net in a 2-0 win over Germany last month.
He has now earned further recognition after being named to the ideal XI of the 2015 Liga MX Apertura championship.

The note that accompanied his nomination said it was "a privilege" that Gignac is playing in Liga MX.
"His individual ability, his commitment, his charisma with the fans, his eye for goal. He does everything well," the statement read.
"He's won the title in his first tournament in Mexico. He's an idol in the north and in the rest of the league."
Gignac said he was "the happiest person in the world" following Sunday's victory in the final.
