Pep Guardiola relishing last 'fight' with Jurgen Klopp as Dortmund coach

Pep Guardiola says he is looking forward to his last meeting with Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp when the pair go head-to-head in the DFB Pokal semifinals on Tuesday.

When Dortmund lost 1-0 to Bayern in the Bundesliga earlier this month, few predicted that 10 days later Klopp would announce he was parting company with his club.

Tuesday's match at the Allianz Arena will not only be a meeting between the two most successful clubs in recent German football history, but it will also play host to what could be the final duel between Guardiola and Klopp.

"I just liked those fights with Klopp," Guardiola said at a news conference in Munich on Monday.

"It's been a huge honour for me. He's a super guy, and we both have nothing but the greatest respect for each other. He will find a big club soon. And those fights will continue. But for now. This will be our last game. He wants to win it, and so do I."

On Monday, Klopp said he wants to "run riot" at Bayern instead of receiving a nice send-off in the DFB Pokal match.

Guardiola replied: "That's normal. We have played BVB seven times since I came here. We lost games, and we won games. All of those matches were aggressive.

"That's a characteristic of Klopp's teams. I don't need his words to know that. They will give it their all. It's their last chance to win a title."

The Catalan coach, who called the 1-0 victory at the Westfalenstadion earlier this month the "most important win of the season so far," knows Bayern will need to improve their game to win against Dortmund.

"BVB were better that day. We had many problems. We only won because Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller knew how to handle the long balls we played," Guardiola said.

Arjen Robben's return from injury could present him with new alternatives, while Dortmund are set to be without keeper Roman Weidenfeller.

The Netherlands winger, who helped to inflict defeats on Dortmund in the 2013 Champions League final as well as the 2014 DFB Pokal final, returned to team training only on Sunday, five weeks after sustaining an abdominal muscle injury in the home defeat against Borussia Monchengladbach.

"He will not be a super-sub, should he be fit he'll also start," Guardiola said.
