Curt Onalfo will be named the new coach of the LA Galaxy on Tuesday, multiple sources have confirmed to ESPN FC.

The former D.C. and Kansas City boss succeeds Bruce Arena, who left to take the United States national team job last month.

The Brazilian-born former U.S. international, 47, coached Kansas City from 2007-09 before one season in the American capital, in 2010.

Onalfo was Arena's assistant in Los Angeles from 2011-14 before taking over LA Galaxy II, the club's reserve team, which competes in the American third tier.

He also served as a U.S. assistant coach from 2003-07 during Arena's first stint with the national squad.
