Julian Green could be on his way out of Hamburg after refusing to play for the club's reserves.
The 19-year-old U.S. international is on a season-long loan from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, whose CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge described the decision to demote him to the reserves as "regrettable."
Green has been unable to force his way into the Hamburg first team, making just one start under former boss Mirko Slomka and four substitute appearances under his successor, Joe Zinnbauer.
Earlier this week, Hamburg sporting director Peter Knabel announced that Green had been demoted to the club's fourth-tier reserve team, leading the 19-year-old, who featured for U.S. at the World Cup in Brazil, to claim on Facebook: "Nobody from HSV has spoken to me at all."

He told Munchener Merkur last week: "Minutes are always important, but the under-23 team is not an issue for me. I want to return to the squad, and I will give it my all towards that."
His refusal to commit to the reserves has infuriated Hamburg bosses, and Knabel told Bild on Friday: "We will discuss the situation with the player in the coming week."
On Sunday, Hamburger Morgenpost quoted him as saying that talks would take place, with the paper reporting that they could be Green's last negotiations with the club if he continues to refuse to play for the reserves.
Football magazine kicker said Green had been "a huge sporting disappointment" and had shown a "lack of maturity."
Meanwhile, Knabel said he was looking for Hamburg's players to respond to their humiliating 8-0 thrashing at Bayern Munich on Saturday, telling the magazine: "I await a reaction to this bad and embarrassing defeat."
