Round-up: Harare City slay ailing champions CAPS United

Young striker Jerry Chipangura netted a last gasp winner as Harare City beat CAPS United 3-2 to further twist the knife on Lloyd Chitembwe's ailing champions at Rufaro Stadium.

In a match pitting two teams in desperate need of some positivity after difficult spells, it is City who drew first blood through a Malvin Gaki strike just after the quarter-hour mark.

Coach Philani Ncube's side managed to hold on to their lead going into the break but Makepekepe had come determined to put up a real fight and duly equalised on 62 minutes with John Zhuwawo heading home a Phineas Bamusi cross from close range.

Just over ten minutes later, CAPS were in front with veteran striker Dominic Chungwa converting with a simple tap in for his third of the campaign.

The Green Machine were however undone by their own soon after as left-back Valentine Musarurwa beat his goalkeeper Prosper Chigumba in an attempt to clear a Chipangura cross as the match entered the final 10 minutes.

Chipangura then netted deep in injury time to break the hearts of the Makepekepe faithful and end City's three-match winless run.

CAPS for their part are now without a win in four league matches and remain rooted deep in relegation territory with just three victories in twelve games.

FC Platinum meanwhile registered a vital second consecutive win to reclaim top spot in the standings thanks to a Rodwell Chinyengetere effort soon after the break.

The Zvishavane-based miners had dominated proceedings but struggled to deliver the killer punch and it was midfielder Chinyengetere who once again came to the rescue with his fourth of the season.

The win took Platinum's tally to 35 points, one more than second-placed Ngezi, who are at home to Hwange on Sunday.
