Christian Epoupa stunner earns DeMbare's Lloyd Mutasa breathing space

Under-fire Dynamos coach Lloyd Mutasa earned himself some desperately needed breathing space after his side's 1-0 win over Harare City on matchday 10 in the Zimbabwe Premier League on Thursday.

Cameroon import Christian Epoupa struck a stunning volley on 35 minutes as Dynamos registered only a third win in eight matches to move away from the relegation zone and relieve some pressure off beleaguered coach Mutasa.

City defenders struggled to deal with a Dynamos corner kick and the ball fell to Epoupa inside the box, the in-form forward hammered it into the back of the net for one of the best goals seen at the National Sports Stadium in recent years.

Overall, it was not exactly an inspiring display by the Harare giants, who struggled to keep possession and barely created enough chances to suggest a sustained recovery is in the offing.

But Mutasa will take anything at a time when the team's executive is calling for meetings twice a week to discuss the team's plummeting fortunes.

The win lifted Dynamos into 11th place with 11 points from 8 games, and Mutasa will need a result against ZPC Kariba at the weekend to keep his critics at bay.

In Bulawayo, Chicken Inn defender Moses Jackson punished wasteful Highlanders with a last minute headed goal to earn his side a 1-0 win.

Erol Akbay's men had dominated the first-half but wasted a glut of chances and were made to pay as Jackson fired home an unstoppable 88th minute header to silence the Bosso faithful.

A change of hands at the log summit was again inevitable and this time it is Ngezi Platinum who grabbed their chance to go top after a convincing 4-1 win over Tsholotsho.

There were as many scorers as there were goals for Tonderai Ndiraya's team, with Keith Kureya opening the scoring in the ninth minute before Qadr Amin added the second 10 minutes later.

Playmaker Donald Teguru netted from the spot moments after the break and although Tsholotsho pulled one back through Lucky Nyathi on 57 minutes, it proved mere consolation as Terrence Dzukamanja found the visitors' fourth 10 minutes later.

Yadah ended a horrible run of four straight defeats with a 3-0 thrashing of Triangle at Morris Depot.

Leeroy Mavhunga, 18, was the star of the show with two second-half goals as Yadah look to put the nightmare of the last few weeks behind them.

Defender Guthrie Zhokinyi headed a Mavhunga cross past his own goalkeeper to hand Gunners the lead just before the half-hour mark. Mavhunga then doubled his side's lead on 57 minutes before converting a late penalty after Johannes Sibanda had been brought down in the box.
