Bosso edge Kariba, Dynamos in first win

Bulawayo giants Highlanders returned to winning ways in style after netting three goals in a thrilling second-half to edge visiting ZPC Kariba 3-2 on Sunday.

Highlanders had lost 1-0 to newly promoted Shabanie in their last league match and their looked headed for another forgettable afternoon as Daniel Chakupe thrust Kariba into the lead with a brilliant volley just after the quarter-hour.

Two goals inside two minutes early in the second-half however turned the game on its head.

Midfielder Allan Gahadzikwa equalised for Highlanders with glancing headed three minutes after the break and moments later, Erol Akbay's team were in front as forward Prince Dube rounded off Kariba goalkeeper Tendai Hove to finish off a swift counter-attack.

Tawanda Nyamandwe equalised for Sunday Chidzambwa's team on 70 minutes and it was left to substitute Godfrey Makaruse to secure Bosso's second win of the campaign nine minutes from time.

Former FC Platinum forward Emmanuel Mandiranga meanwhile scored right at the death as Dynamos beat Hwange 1-0 for their first win of the new season.

The Harare giants had gone to the Colliery desperate for all three points to kick start their title campaign but then struggled to dominate the coal miners.

In fact, it was the home side who did most of the probing as Gilbert Zulu, Shepherd Gadzikwa and Gerald Ndlovu all missed decent opportunities.

Hwange were ultimately made to pay dearly as Mandiranga stabbed home from inside the box to hand Dembare all three points. Champions CAPS United meanwhile needed to come from behind to secure a 1-1 draw at home to Tsholotsho.

CAPS goalkeeper Joram Muchambo struggled to deal with a Nkosilathi Siwela cross amd Nkosani Moyo stabbed home from close range to hand the visitors the lead 10 minutes before the break.

Left-back Ronald Pfumbidzai then headed home a Dennis Dauda delivery for the CAPS equaliser on 64 minutes and although the champions continued to dominate proceedings, an equaliser just would not come.

Chicken Inn were the other side to return to winning ways with Darryl Nyandoro's 82nd minute goal proving adequate to overcome winless Triangle at Gibbo Stadium.

The result left the home side second-bottom on the standings without a win in four matches, further piling pressure on new coach Taurai Mangwiro.
