Paul Pogba 'is playing well' for Manchester United - Didier Deschamps

France coach Didier Deschamps has joined Jose Mourinho in praising Paul Pogba's form for Manchester United.

After Pogba's performance in United's FA Cup quarterfinal defeat against Chelsea was criticised, Mourinho said it was "motivated by envy" and said the 24-year-old was "by far the best player on the pitch."

"Honestly, I regularly watch his matches, and I think he's playing well," Deschamps said at a news conference following the announcement of the France squad to face Luxembourg and Spain. "Mourinho brought him in, he knows what he expects of him.

"He's capable of not having a good game, but I think he's playing well for his club, even if he's not able to solve all of United's problems as they're having a little difficulty in the league right now. People will always talk about Paul, but I like what he does with United and with us."

Deschamps is also impressed by the form of N'Golo Kante at Chelsea and said the midfielder is a big part of his plans, even if he lacks leadership.

"He's not really a boss, it's not his style," the former World Cup, European Championship and Champions League-winning midfielder said. "He's not very expressive, expansive, but it's better to have him with you than against you.

"He's capable of playing in every central position in midfield, be it a three or a two, it's no problem. He had an excellent season last year, was at the Euro and again has produced some very high-level performances this year. What's more, he's also scoring goals!"
