France call up Ousmane Dembele, Kevin Gameiro, Geoffrey Kondogbia

Borussia Dortmund attacker Ousmane Dembele has been called up to the France senior squad for the first time.

New Atletico Madrid forward Kevin Gameiro and Inter Milan midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia have also been recalled following the withdrawals of Nabil Fekir, Alexandre Lacazette and Yohan Cabaye.

Dembele, 19, impressed on his league debut for Dortmund in their 2-1 win over Mainz on Saturday after joining the German club from Rennes this summer.

He has now been given a chance to work with France boss Didier Deschamps ahead of a friendly against Italy on Sept. 1 and a World Cup qualifier in Belarus on Sept. 6.

Fekir, who suffered a cruciate ligament injury while playing for France against Portugal in September 2015, had been in line to make his return at international level.

But on Sunday, Lyon revealed that the 23-year-old would be out for three weeks in order to undergo arthroscopic surgery to clean up a fresh issue with his knee.

Fekir had featured in Lyon's first three league matches of the season and was replaced after 77 minutes in Saturday's 4-2 loss at Dijon.

Lacazette, 25, scored his sixth goal of the season in that match but felt some pain in his knee soon afterwards and was withdrawn at half-time as a precaution.
