Barcelona teammates Luis Suarez, Neymar bet burger on Brazil-Uruguay

Luis Suarez will face Barcelona teammate Neymar when Brazil host Uruguay in Friday's CONMEBOL World Cup qualifier, with a friendly bet on the line.

Suarez, 29, has not featured for La Celeste in a competitive match since June 24, 2014 when he bit Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini and received a nine-match suspension.

The striker is now back in the fold and ready to take on a Brazil team that is to be captained by his club teammate Neymar in Recife.

"I've bet a hamburger with Neymar, whoever loses has to pay, of course," Suarez said in quotes reported by El Mundo Deportivo. "Each of us will give his best for his team and the maximum for his country.

"Neymar is a very good teammate, we are always joking at Barca. Above all, we are team-mates and I'm sure that whoever wins will celebrate and whoever loses will receive the support of the other."

Suarez's arrival at the Nou Camp in 2014 means the two players know each other well but the Uruguay forward believes there is still the element of surprise.

"I also know Neymar very well but on the pitch it's different," Suarez said. "All the rivals know how each footballer plays but on the pitch you do things according to the moment."

Suarez is his country's all-time leading scorer with 43 goals and has won 82 caps since making his senior debut in February 2007, but insists that he should not be the centre of attention.

"What happened has allowed me to learn how to manage all the pressure that is on me," Suarez said. "Uruguay is a united group that doesn't depend on just one player."

Uruguay currently have nine points in CONMEBOL qualifying, three behind leaders Ecuador, and take on Peru in Montevideo on March 29.
