San Jose's Chris Wondolowski added to United States squad for qualifiers

San Jose Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski has been called into the United States squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Honduras and Panama.

Wondolowski, 34, has scored 11 goals in 34 appearances for the national team over his career.

He will join midfielder Sacha Kljestan and defender Matt Besler as recent additions to the squad after Bobby Wood was dropped because of a lower back injury.

The U.S. opened camp in San Jose, California, on Monday. The team will play its first qualifier since rehiring Bruce Arena as coach against Honduras in San Jose on Friday, then will travel to Panama four days later.

Wondolowski is one of the top goal scorers in MLS history, ranking third in game-winning goals (38), and is tied for third in career hat tricks (4). He also ranks fourth in total goals scored with 122.

His last goal for the United States came in a 2-0 friendly victory over Cuba in October of last year.
