Tottenham Hotspur ace Son Heung-Min aims to play full 90 for Korea

Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-Min has declared himself fit and in good form for South Korea's vital 2018 World Cup qualifier against Iran in Seoul in Thursday.

The 25-year-old fractured his right arm in the 3-2 loss in Qatar in June, and did not feature at all in the English club's preseason.

Arriving back in South Korea on Monday, Son told reporters at the National Football Center that he was feeling good after playing 70 minutes for Spurs on Sunday in their 1-1 draw in the Premier League with Burnley. He added that he was ready to play the full 90 against Iran.

"Why not? I did so much running in my recovery that I think I am pretty well-conditioned," said Son, who scored 21 goals for Spurs in all competitions last season. "I think my form is as good as it was last year."

The Koreans will need all the firepower that they can muster against an already-qualified Iranian team who have yet to concede a single goal in the eight games played so far in the third round of qualification.

The Taeguk Warriors have lost three of their last four qualifiers, and sit just a point ahead of Uzbekistan in third, with two games remaining. Only the top two nations from each group will qualify automatically.

Under Carlos Queiroz, Iran have won their last four games against the Koreans. Despite already securing their place in Russia, Asia's number-one ranked nation has brought a strong squad to Seoul.

Queiroz has spiced up proceedings by complaining about the standard of their training pitch.

After South Korea reported similar problems ahead of their 1-0 defeat in Tehran last October, such concerns were dismissed by coach Shin Tae-Yong, preparing for his first game in charge of Korea after succeeding the sacked Uli Stielike in July.

"People know how we were treated when we visited Iran last year," Shin said. "I don't want to engage in [Queiroz's] psychological game. I think they're getting good treatment here."

South Korea will book their place in a ninth successive World Cup on Thursday if they defeat Iran and Uzbekistan lose in China. Any other results, and the deciding game will take place on Sep. 5 when the Koreans travel to Uzbekistan.
