Jonathan Calleri: I am going to sign for West Ham United from Boca Juniors

Argentine striker Jonathan Calleri has said he is set to sign for West Ham United.

Calleri, 22, played at Sao Paulo last season on loan from Boca Juniors and he will now join West Ham, reportedly on a season-long loan.

The forward, who has been name in Argentina's Olympics squad, was previously linked with Chelsea and Tottenham.

He told ESPN in Argentina: "The deal is done. It is sure that I am going to play at West Ham.

"All that is left to finish is the work visa and if there are no other problems, if all goes well, I will be playing there. Playing in Europe has always been my dream.

"It is a league that has everything, great players, great managers. I would like to be able to perform at that level and that is why I want to go there."

Asked if he would be calling former Hammers striker Carlos Tevez to ask him for some words of wisdom ahead of his move, Calleri said: "Yes, sometimes through his agent, Adrian, I can call him to ask him for his advice.

"He has always been great with me. We had a great time playing together when I was with Boca [Juniors]. He was the one who got me sold [to Sao Paulo]."

On a potential return to Argentina, Calleri added: "I would love to go back to Boca Juniors and have the fans welcome me."
