Saido Berahino prepared to see out contract with West Brom - sources

Saido Berahino is ready to stay at West Brom and see out his contract before leaving on a free transfer to Europe next year after the club rejected several bids for him, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

Berahino's future at West Brom has been the subject of speculation again this summer with the player turning down a new deal at the Hawthorns.

West Brom managed to keep hold of Berahino last summer and in the January transfer window, and with the striker now entering the final year of his contract, they were hoping to secure his services by offering him a four-year extension that would make him the highest-paid player at the club, but the player rejected the offer.

Stoke City and Crystal Palaces are keen on signing Berahino and have both seen bids for the player rejected with West Brom reluctant to selling him.

As a result of West Brom's stance, Berahino is now prepared to run down the final year of his contract and leave to go abroad next summer on a free transfer, sources said.

A number of foreign clubs are monitoring Berahino's situation and could try and land the former England under-21 international with a pre-contract in January.

There are sure to be no shortage of suitors for Berahino if he does run down his contract, and it remains to be seen if West Brom are willing to risk losing the striker for nothing next year rather than cashing in on him this summer.
