Werder Bremen to stick with Florian Kohfeldt until end of season

BREMEN, Germany -- Werder Bremen are placing their trust in former under-23 coach Florian Kohfeldt to lead the side as coach at least until the end of the year.

The Bundesliga side, which appointed Kohfeldt on an interim basis after firing Alexander Nouri as coach on Oct. 30, says they have ended their search for a replacement for now.

Sporting director Frank Baumann said: "We are convinced that Florian should continue his work at least until the winter break. He's earned this chance through his positive work over the last few days."

Kohfeldt lost his first game in charge at Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 thanks to a late goal last weekend, but the side appeared revitalised after failing to win any of their first 10 Bundesliga games.

Bremen are 17th in the 18-team league with five points from 11 games, and only four goals scored.
