Aron Johannsson targeting swift recall to Werder Bremen first team

Aron Johannsson has said he will need to be patient in order to return to Werder Bremen's starting XI.

United States international Johannsson has lost his place in the Bundesliga side's attack to 19-year-old Ousman Manneh.

He had regained his spot in the team at the start of this season after returning from almost a year on the sidelines with injury.

However, he has been a substitute under new coach Alexander Nouri and told local paper Kreiszeitung: "I am close to 100 percent now and I can train hard again and feel fine afterwards.

"Naturally, I am not happy to sit on the bench. I want to play every single minute. It's a difficult situation.

"Usually I am not a patient person, but I need to be now and work hard. I can only give it my all."

Also speaking to Kreiszeitung, Bremen assistant coach Markus Feldhoff said Johannsson still needed a bit of time to return to full match fitness.

But at his prematch news conference before Bremen's Bundesliga game against Freiburg at the weekend, Nouri said the player was putting in "extra shifts" to work on his return to the first team.
