Koen Casteels joins Werder Bremen on loan from Wolfsburg

BREMEN, Germany -- Werder Bremen have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Koen Casteels on loan from Wolfsburg until the end of the season.

Wolfsburg signed Casteels, 22, from Hoffenheim this week and have immediately shipped him out to Werder for the rest of the current campaign.

Werder general manager Thomas Eichin says he has been brought in as cover for Raphael Wolf, who will remain as the team's No. 1.

"With him, we brought in a young keeper with Bundesliga experience who gives us more depth at the position. Our clear No. 1, Raphael Wolf, will be given great support from him and Richard Strebinger," Eichin told the club's official website.

Werder head coach Viktor Skripnik added: "We made the decision together. Koen Casteels will be well integrated here and be highly motivated."
