Wolfsburg defender John Brooks: Premier League move is my dream

The ESPN FC panel delve into John Brooks' record transfer from Hertha Berlin to VfL Wolfsburg.

Wolfsburg's United States international defender John Brooks has said he has not given up on a future Premier League move.

Brooks, 24, joined Wolfsburg from hometown club Hertha Berlin earlier this summer, setting a new record fee for an American player in a reported €20 million ($22.4m) deal.

He has been linked with a Premier League switch in recent years, and last year Watford saw a €10m bid turned down by Hertha.

Brooks told Sport Bild: "Quite a few people were surprised that I made the switch within the Bundesliga and did not move to England.

"I have always said that Premier League is my dream, but it never meant that it must be the next step.

"It was clear to many that I could leave Hertha this summer. I always said that a switch was possible if something fitting for both sides were to come up.

"When Wolfsburg showed interest, I soon knew that I wanted to make that step because the perspective at Wolfsburg is in line with my plans."
