Wolfsburg cancel Florida Cup trip for training camp in Spain - source

Wolfsburg have cancelled their trip to the Florida Cup to focus on turning around their season, with a winter training camp in Spain now planned instead.

Despite beating Borussia Monchengladbach 2-1 on Tuesday, Wolfsburg are still very much involved in the Bundesliga relegation fight.

The club have picked up only 16 points from their first 16 matches, just three more than Hamburg who occupy the relegation playoff place.

On Wednesday, Wolfsburg confirmed to ESPN FC that they have cancelled their trip to the Florida Cup in January and instead will go to La Manga in Spain to put their full focus on training.

However, Wolfsburg will still be present at the Florida Cup and will instead send a squad of under-19 and under-23 players for the games against Flamengo and Tampa Bay Rowdies.

Wolfsburg's withdrawal from the competition means that only Bayer Leverkusen will be present at the Florida Cup with their first team.

Leverkusen have said that they are looking forward to their third consecutive winter training camp in Orlando, where they "enjoyed perfect conditions" during their visits in 2015 and 2016.
