Wolfsburg dismiss links with Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner

Wolfsburg have dismissed reports linking them with a move for Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner.

Coach Valerien Ismael, who replaced Dieter Hecking in October and was appointed on a permanent basis the following month, is under pressure amid a run of poor form.

But Wolfsburg supervisory board member Hans-Gerd Bode rejected reports that he could be replaced by Wagner, who kicker reported can leave for less than €1 million.

Huddersfield's German boss has steered the Terriers to fourth place in the Championship table.

But Bode told dpa: "We have a coach who is currently showing that he can give this team new direction.

"Last weekend's result [a 1-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt] shows that the team has taken up the fight.

"We are playing Borussia Monchengladbach on Tuesday and nothing is going to happen to the coach either before or after that game."

Meanwhile, Wolfsburg have suspended defender Philipp Wollscheid, who has only made three appearances since joining from Stoke City on loan this summer.

Wollscheid, 27, has failed to make an impression and has not been part of the matchday squad for the last six weeks.

On Monday, kicker reported that he had been demoted to training individually after falling out with a member of the coaching staff.

Ismael confirmed that the defender would train alone "for now" and added: "Something happened."
