Nicklas Bendtner must improve to get back in Wolfsburg team - Klaus Allofs

Wolfsburg appear to be running out of patience with Nicklas Bendtner after he once again missed out on a place in their matchday squad on Saturday for the 1-1 draw with Hertha Berlin.

Bendtner, 28, did not make the short trip to Berlin as Die Wolfe picked up a point -- amid a major injury crisis -- and has not featured for his side since Feb. 6.

Last week, the Denmark international earned himself a club fine after posting a photo of himself on Instagram getting into a Mercedes -- rivals to Wolfsburg sponsor Volkswagen.

"The coach includes players in the squad who he feels can help him," Wolfsburg sporting executive Klaus Allofs told reporters of Bendtner's exclusion.

"Sure, that's rather extraordinary, but we wanted to point out the situation to him, also performance-wise. We don't just need to make up the numbers. It's also about saying that those on the bench can actually help the team."

However, Allofs said that Bendtner could still return to the squad, adding: "Of course there is a way back for him."

Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking, who last week opted to call up a third goalkeeper to his squad for the Champions League match at Gent instead of Bendtner, refused to comment on the striker's situation.

The former Arsenal player is under contract at Wolfsburg until 2017.
