Wolfsburg will be without their midfielder Julian Draxler for their next two Bundesliga fixtures against Werder Bremen and Augsburg after he was suspended for the red card he picked up on Saturday.
The Germany international was shown a straight red card when he caught Gonzalo Jara in his head with a high boot during Wolfsburg's 2-0 defeat to Mainz.
Although images show that Draxler did not appear to have any intention of connecting with his opponent, as he was focusing on the ball, the German Football Association (DFB) have nevertheless ruled his conduct was violent.
Draxler apologised immediately to Jara before being shown the red card.
Furthermore, the 22-year-old has been ordered to pay a fine of €10,000. His club and the player have already accepted the punishment.
Draxler will be eligible for the Wolves' Champions League trip to CSKA Moscow on Nov. 25 and will then be available for the home game against Borussia Dortmund on Dec. 5.
