Wolfsburg's Julian Draxler 'not that pleased' sitting on bench

Julian Draxler says he is unhappy with his role at Wolfsburg after starting the last two matches on the bench.

Draxler, 22, joined the Wolves from Schalke on the final day of the summer transfer window, with the 2015 DFB Pokal winners reportedly spending €36 million on the attacking midfielder.

However, despite having registered four assists since his arrival and Max Kruse currently being out injured, the Germany international was dropped for the 2-1 Bundesliga win against Bayer Leverkusen and the 2-0 Champions League defeat at PSV Eindhoven.

"Generally speaking, I am not that pleased with it," Draxler told Sky Deutschland. "And it's hard for me to accept it. But if the coach believes that another player helps the team more then I have to accept it."

Following Kruse's injury, Draxler had hoped to take the No. 10 role, but coach Dieter Hecking has opted to play Maximilian Arnold and Andre Schurrle ahead of him.

"I am someone who prefers to be on the pitch for 90 minutes in every match, but certainly I am not the only one," Draxler said.

Meanwhile, earlier this week, defender Timm Klose told kicker that he hopes the club will send out signals that they are planning to extend his contract beyond 2017.

"It made me chuckle," Wolfsburg CEO Klaus Allofs told kicker about Klose's comments. "There is no reason to get nervous. The players know how we treat them. And most of them have contracts valid longer than 2016 -- also Timm."

Allofs also revealed that goalkeeper Diego Benaglio and centre-back Naldo will stay at the club beyond 2016.

Naldo is set to play his 20th match of the season at Mainz this weekend, with an extension clause kicking in after that.

Benaglio will be a Wolfsburg player "for another year," Allofs said, but he did not reveal whether a clause had been triggered.

Both players had previously been under contract until the end of the season.
