Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking slams Bas Dost attitude after winning goals

Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking has criticised Bas Dost harshly, even though it was the Dutchman who earned his side a 2-0 Bundesliga win over Hertha Berlin on Saturday.

Dost came off the bench to score both goals in the Wolves' third win of an unbeaten start to the season.

Hecking explained why Dost had been left out of his starting XI and warned him that he expects more than just goals -- match-winning or not.

"I was pleased for the team that he scored twice, but the way he has been sauntering around here these past few days is egotism and we don't need anything like that here,'' Hecking said, reports Kicker magazine.

"If somebody strolls around for three days as if somebody has taken his toy away then he's got to reconsider his attitude towards the rest of the team.''

Dost was unhappy at being substituted during the Wolves' 1-0 win over CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on Tuesday night and Hecking feels he has shown a bad attitude since.

Nicklas Bendtner, on the other hand, has "been training really well for weeks,'' which is why he was given the nod in Saturday's starting XI.

Hecking has left it open over the decision who will lead his side's attack at Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

"I'm going to leave him alone for three days, just like he did with the team,'' said the Wolfsburg coach. "Then we will be able to see whether it's a good idea or not, whether we should talk about it or not or whether he goes public with his frustration.

"If he thinks that is the right way, then he's in the wrong place in Wolfsburg.''
