Wolfsburg star Bas Dost has eyes on Bundesliga top goal-scorer prize

Wolfsburg attacker Bas Dost has set his sights on the Bundesliga's top scorer -- Torjagerkanone -- title after hitting 11 goals in six games since the start of 2015.

Dost, 25, began his stunning run of form when he opened the scoring in Wolfsburg's stunning 4-1 victory over Bayern Munich in late January, with his 2015 goal tally also including a brace in the Europa League.

The Dutchman has netted 12 of Wolfsburg's 19 goals in the last seven matches and has been in outstanding form since the departure of Ivica Olic, who returned to Hamburg in January.

He has appeared in 11 Bundesliga games, hitting 11 goals, and Bild quoted him as saying: "Of course, I am eyeing the Kanone [the trophy for the Bundesliga's top scorer]. But [Arjen] Robben needs to stop scoring for that."

Dost trails countryman Robben by five goals, with Robben's 16 coming from only 18 league games.

It took Dost 727 minutes to score 11 goals, compared to Robben's 1470 minutes on the pitch for FC Bayern Munich, and he said: "I trail Arjen by nearly half a season, but I have already caught up a bit."

Earlier this week, Dost said a Netherlands call-up would be "a dream, but is not an issue right now."
