Kevin De Bruyne: Wolfsburg can still win Bundesliga title this season

Kevin De Bruyne has not given up hope of winning the Bundesliga title this season with Wolfsburg.

The Wolves recorded their third league victory on Saturday from the four games they have played since the winter break when they beat Bayer Leverkusen 5-4 at the BayArena.

In that time, they have scored 13 goals and picked up 10 points -- three more than league leaders Bayern Munich, who suffered a 4-1 defeat at Wolfsburg on Jan. 30.

Wolfsburg now trail Bayern by eight points, and with 39 points still available to win, De Bruyne feels the club can land their second Bundesliga title following 2009's success.

"I really want to win everything," the former Chelsea player told Audi Star Talk on Sunday, with Wolfsburg also still in the DFB-Pokal and Europa League, where they next face Sporting Lisbon.

"We might be second in the league right now, but I still want to finish first, even though Bayern have an eight-point lead. I am not here to let Bayern Munich win titles."

Meanwhile, Bas Dost has said that his recent goalscoring antics for Wolfsburg are set to continue.

The Dutchman has scored eight goals in his last five Bundesliga games, having only hit 13 in his 46 matches before that upon joining the club in 2012. Dost has struggled with injuries for much of his time at Wolfsburg, and in between his spells on the sidelines he found it hard to win back a place in the starting XI.

"The key was the match at Hannover [on Dec. 6] before the winter break. I came off the bench and took my chance. I started in every match after that," he told kicker.

"I started seven games and scored nine goals. The numbers could be worse, couldn't they? I don't know how many goals I could score in the Bundesliga. But I know that when I am healthy I am always capable of scoring goals. I have that in me."

The Wolfsburg attacker cited confidence as one of the main reasons for his current run of form.

"That's very important, you can see that now," he said. "But I know that I can do even better. This has only been the beginning."
