Ricardo Rodriguez contract talks on hold with Wolfsburg, confirms agent

Manchester United and Bayern Munich target Ricardo Rodriguez has put contract talks with Wolfsburg on hold, but is currently also not talking to other clubs, his agent Roger Wittmann has told Bild.

Rodriguez, 22, is under contract at Bundesliga side Wolfsburg until 2016, but has been linked with a move away from the club for some time now.

According to recent media reports, Bayern Munich and Manchester United both considered signing the left-back during the last transfer window before eventually opting for Juan Bernat and Luke Shaw respectively.

But the Switzerland international, who has been praised as the "best left-back in the Bundesliga" by club coach Dieter Hecking, still wears the Wolfsburg jersey, and has been directly involved in five of their last seven goals in all competitions.

On Tuesday, Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs announced that the club is to enter contract talks with their prized asset in the near future, but on Wednesday, Rodriguez's agent Roger Wittmann revealed that, right now, talks have not started.

"At the moment we are talking to no-one, because Rici has a contract until 2016," Wittmann told Bild.
