The 31-year-old, who joined from Werder Bremen in 2012, has become a stalwart of the Wolfsburg back line, and helped them qualify for the Europa League next season.

"I want to carry on being successful with Wolfsburg," the Brazilian told the club's official website. "Wolfsburg have placed a huge amount of faith in me and I would like to give something back to them.

"I'm very happy in Wolfsburg and my family are happy here too. That's why I'm really pleased about signing this new contract."

Naldo has played 74 times for the Wolves and now totals 247 Bundesliga appearances. He has scored 31 goals in German football and is also renowned for the threat he poses with set-pieces.

"Naldo is a real lead figure in our side and he's shown over the course of the season how important he is also to the younger players," said Bremen's director of sport Klaus Allofs.

"After extending Ivica Olic's contract, this is another important squad decision."
