Stuttgart make Jos Luhukay coach and sack director Robin Dutt

Stuttgart have named Jos Luhukay as their new coach while parting company with their director of sport Robin Dutt following their relegation.

Luhukay, who has previously guided Borussia Monchengladbach, Augsburg and Hertha Berlin to promotion from the second division, replaces Jurgen Kramny, who was demoted back to his previous role of reserve-team coach on Sunday.

"Jos Luhukay is a very experienced coach who has impressively proven his variety of qualities at his previous clubs," said Stuttgart director Jochen Rottgermann.

"He knows German football from many different viewpoints and has already been promoted to the Bundesliga with three different clubs.

"He knows what challenge we face together over the coming weeks and months and he has made it clear to us that he would really like to work for Stuttgart."

The Dutchman has signed a two-year contract with the Swabians, who were relegated for only the second time in their history at the weekend.

That has cost the former director of sport of the German Football Association and Freiburg and Bayer Leverkusen coach Dutt his job.

"The good of the club is the utmost priority and since there has been differing views lately about which way the club should be going, it is just a consequence that we go separate ways," said Dutt on the Swabian club's website.

A replacement for Dutt will be announced in the coming weeks.
