Stuttgart appoint Jurgen Kramny as boss on contract until 2017

Jurgen Kramny has been appointed as the full-time coach of Stuttgart on a contract until 2017 after initially stepping in on a caretaker basis last month.

Kramny, 44, won his first game in charge against Wolfsburg on Saturday, having drawn his first two matches since replacing Alexander Zorniger.

That win lifted the Swabians out of the bottom three and to their highest position in the Bundesliga this season and earned Kramny -- the club's former reserve-team coach -- a permanent promotion. The remaining two-and-a-half years of his contract with the reserve team have been adapted to reflect his new role.

Stuttgart confirmed his appointment on their website on Sunday.

Kramny will welcome the squad back from their winter break on Jan. 5, when they will head for a nine-day training camp in Belek, Turkey, in preparation for the second half of the season, which starts with a trip to Cologne on Jan. 23.

The 2007 Bundesliga champions, who have only narrowly avoided relegation in each of the past two seasons, are just two points clear of the bottom of the table with just four wins from 17 games.
