Club forced to play two matches in six hours, win both games

Deportivo Lara claimed six points in as many hours with league and Copa Libertadores wins on the same day.

As they continue to fight on multiple fronts at the business end of the European season, we will likely hear Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp or Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola complaining about the fixtures piling up. If they do, spare a thought for Deportivo Lara coach Leonardo Gonzalez.

At least 29 people were killed last month during demonstrations between authorities and anti-government protesters over Venezuela's economic woes of triple-digit inflation and shortages of food and other goods.

The referee had blown his whistle for Sunday's 14th round of Apertura game between hosts Deportivo Lara...

Trujillanos say their bus was held up by six armed men on Monday.

CARACAS, Venezuela -- Six armed men have held up a bus carrying a Venezuelan first division football team.

Trujillanos said on Monday that their bus was hijacked at 2:30 a.m. as the players were returning from the eastern city of Monagas. Both players and team staff were robbed, but no one was hurt.

The club said on Twitter that the players were held by the armed men, who threatened to detonate a grenade, for two hours.
