Ezequiel Garay hopes Dani Parejo and Enzo Perez stay at Valencia

Valencia defender Ezequiel Garay is hoping teammates Dani Parejo and Enzo Perez stay at the club amid speculation the pair could leave the Mestalla stadium in the winter transfer window.

Argentine midfielder Perez has received 10 offers, according to Superdeporte, and like Spanish midfielder Parejo, the club are considering selling him this month and using the funds to buy new players. Marca reported that Sevilla have rekindled their interest in Parejo.

"They are great professionals," Garay told Superdeporte. "They are two great captains that help the team. If the team breaks down, they are responsible for lifting it. They are two very important players in our system.

"We are not paying attention to what is being said and neither are they."

Under contract with Valencia until June 2019, Perez has made 14 starts for the club he joined in January 2015 from Benfica.

Parejo, meanwhile, is tied to Valencia until June 2020 and has scored three goals and set up five more in 18 league starts.

Valencia have had a difficult season but have shown a slight improvement in recent weeks under coach Salvador "Voro" Gonzalez. The former Valencia player and club delegate stepped in for the fifth time as caretaker coach following Cesare Prandelli's resignation on Dec. 30.

Valencia followed their 2-1 home win over Espanyol with a 2-0 triumph at Villarreal last weekend -- the first game all season that the team kept a clean sheet -- to climb to 16th in the standings.

Garay praised the work done by the coach and said: "Voro is very loved in the changing room. With Voro we feel free to train and play. He leaves us alone and he knows the quality there is."

The Argentine also said he believes Prandelli should not have spoken to the media about his players' lack of commitment.

"Prandelli made a mistake by talking to the press first and not to the changing room," Garay said.

Valencia, six points clear of the relegation zone at the halfway stage of La Liga, play at Las Palmas on Monday.
