Former Valencia star Mario Alberto Kempes has said that he would be available to coach the club, but added that he backed coach Pako Ayestaran despite the four straight defeats to start the season.
The latest loss was a 2-1 setback at Athletic Bilbao on Sunday that dropped Los Che to the foot of La Liga standings with no points. The club have scored only five goals and conceded 10.
Asked if a coaching change was needed, former Argentina international Kempes, who scored 116 goals in 184 league games during a seven-year stint at Valencia starting in 1976 and now works for ESPN, tweeted: "What is happening in Valencia is cause for concern. They are without a project or ideas and what we are seeing is pure football frustration."

Under the 53-year-old Ayestaran, Valencia have won three, drawn one and lost eight of his 12 matches in charge.
Kempes also tweeted that he would consider managing the club, saying: "In response to those that have asked me to become Valencia coach, I would do so with all my strength as long as I am asked to."

Ayestaran, who replaced Gary Neville at the helm of Valencia in March and steered the club to a 12th-place finish last season, said after the loss at Bilbao his side at times had "forgotten to play football" but reiterated his hope of reversing the situation.
However, Valencia-based newspaper Superdeporte claimed on Monday that Valencia are already working on finding his replacement.
From the 2009-10 campaign through the 2014-15 season, Valencia finished in the top four of La Liga on four occasions.
Selling their top stars this summer -- German defender Shkodran Mustafi to Arsenal and both Portuguese midfielder Andre Gomes and Spanish forward Paco Alcacer to Barcelona -- did not sit well with the fans.
ESPN's football analyst and commentator, Kempes, 62, won the 1978 World Cup with Argentina and finished as the top scorer in the competition. He has not coached since guiding Bolivian side Independiente Petrolero in the 2000-01 campaign.
If Valencia asked him to coach the team, Kempes would jump at the chance.
Valencia take on newly-promoted Alaves on Thursday at the Mestalla stadium before facing La Liga newcomers Leganes in Madrid three days later.
