Alvaro Negredo injury recovery is 'on track,' say Valencia

Valencia say Alvaro Negredo's recovery from a broken metatarsal remains on track despite the Spain striker having to pull out of training on Monday morning after suffering a blow to his foot.

Negredo joined Valencia from Manchester City on transfer deadline day but has yet to feature for his new club as he battles back from undergoing foot surgery in late July.

The 29-year-old, who was expected to be sidelined for three months, was forced to leave training early with pain in his foot but tests have confirmed that it is nothing serious.

"After retiring from training on Monday, September 29 with pain in the area that he was operated on, Alvaro Negredo has undergone the relevant medical tests which show no abnormality, so his recovery process remains on the correct path," a club statement read.

Negredo joined City from Sevilla in a 20 million-pound deal last year and made an immediate impact with 23 goals in all competitions, although the last of those came in January as he suffered a loss of form in the second half of the campaign after a shoulder injury.

This summer, the Premier League champions allowed Negredo to return to Spain, with his initial loan move to Los Che to be made permanent next year.
