Ex-United States caretaker boss Dave Sarachan joins North Carolina FC

Dave Sarachan is preparing the U.S. for September friendlies against Brazil and Mexico.
Dave Sarchan spent nearly all of 2018 as caretaker coach of the United States.

Dave Sarachan, who led the United States on a caretaker basis for nearly all of 2018, has signed with USL side North Carolina FC to become the team's next manager, the club announced on Monday.

Sarachan, 64, takes over from Colin Clarke, who was relieved of his duties after NCFC failed to reach the playoffs last season.

Louisville City founder Wayne Estopinal dies in plane crash

Wayne Estopinal, the founder of the second-tier soccer club Louisville City, was killed in a plane crash in southern Indiana on Friday. He was 63.

Ball State University, where Estopinal was a trustee, confirmed his death in the crash, while his USL team also released a statement. Two others killed in the crash have not been identified.

United Soccer League players announce formation of players' union

Players in the second tier of U.S. men's soccer leagues have formed a union for collective bargaining.

The United Soccer League said Tuesday its USL Championship clubs have recognized the USL Players Association as their players' exclusive bargaining representative.

USL Chief Executive Officer Alec Papadakis says "in many ways, this is simply the next, natural step in the evolution of building a great and enduring professional soccer league."

Former Chelsea and Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba seemingly hinted on Friday that he will continue playing football, one day after the Phoenix Rising FC's defeat in the final of the United Soccer League Cup.
