USMNT to face Colombia in Tampa in October friendly

The U.S. Soccer Federation has confirmed the first of two October friendlies, formally announcing a game against Colombia in Tampa, Florida.

Raymond James Stadium will host the game on Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. It will be the seventh time the U.S. has played at the home of the Tampa Bay Buccanneers and the first since last summer's Gold Cup.

Since 1961, the U.S. has faced Colombia 18 times -- the most of any South American team.

Colombia has dominated the series, winning 12 times, though one of the U.S.'s three wins came in the 1994 World Cup. The Americans' last victory over Colombia came in 2005.

A second game for the October FIFA international break has yet to be confirmed. A source told ESPN FC in May that U.S. Soccer was finalizing a game against Argentina, with Miami an option to host.

The U.S. will also play in NFL stadiums in September against Brazil in New Jersey and Mexico in Nashville, Tennessee.

After the October games, the U.S. will head to Europe to face England at Wembley Stadium in London and Italy at a site still to be determined.
