Stuttgart hopeful U.S.'s Julian Green could return to Greuther Furth

Stuttgart are hopeful they can reach an agreement with German second-tier club Greuther Furth over the future of United States international Julian Green.

The forward, who turns 23 on Wednesday, said last month he was uncertain of his future after his one-year loan with the Shamrocks ended, but Stuttgart sporting executive Michael Reschke said Green could stay with Greuther Furth.

"I'd like to think that we can find a very good solution for all involved," Reschke said. "And that Julian will stay at Furth."

Green secured Greuther Furth another year in the 2.Bundesliga last month when his third goal of the season salvaged a 1-1 draw at Heidenheim, enough for his club to move leapfrog Eintracht Braunschweig and Erzgebirge Aue and avoid relegation.

Green, who scored for the U.S. at the 2014 World Cup, returned to the national team after an 18-month absence to start in last week's 3-0 friendly win over Bolivia but missed Saturday's friendly against Ireland with a foot injury.
