USMNT setting up friendlies against Argentina, Colombia - source

The United States men's national team is finalizing plans for home friendlies against Argentina and Colombia in the October international window, a source has confirmed to ESPN FC's Jeff Carlisle.

CBS Sports, which first reported talks over the proposed games on Sunday, said Miami is an option to host one of the games.

The U.S. last faced both teams at the Copa America in 2016 -- losing to Colombia in both the group stage opener and third-place match, and to Argentina in the semifinals.

Though the U.S. failed to qualify for the World Cup this summer, it has packed its schedule with difficult games for the rest of the year.

After Monday's game against Bolivia, the U.S. will travel to Europe to take on Ireland and France. A match against Mexico in Nashville was confirmed last week for Sept. 11, with a friendly against Brazil in New Jersey expected four days earlier.

The U.S. will then go to Europe again in November to face England and Italy.
