New U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame to reopen in Texas in October 2018

The United States Soccer Federation and FC Dallas on Tuesday announced that the new National Soccer Hall of Fame will open in Frisco, Texas, on Oct. 20, 2018.

The Hall of Fame has not had a home since the previous location, the National Soccer Museum in Oneonta, New York, closed in February 2010.

The new facility is part a $55 million renovation at FC Dallas' home venue of Toyota Stadium after the MLS club's owners Clark and Dan Hunt began a campaign to bring the Hall of Fame to Frisco in 2013.

"October 20th can't come soon enough," FC Dallas president Dan Hunt said in a statement. "Not only will this be a technology-driven experience that honors the men and women who made U.S. soccer what it is today, the National Soccer Hall of Fame will also provide outstanding educational opportunities for students across Dallas-Fort Worth.

"The clubs and new seats are game changers that will offer unparalleled views for all guests who visit Toyota Stadium for games, concerts or any other special event."

U.S. Soccer and FC Dallas also announced that the opening weekend will consist of an enshrinement ceremony for the 2018 class, a game featuring FC Dallas and an opponent to be named later, as well as a concert.
