Christian Pulisic named to United States' Copa America roster

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Christian Pulisic has been included in United States head coach Jurgen Klinsmann's final 23-man roster for the Copa America Centenario this summer, and Brad Guzan has been named the starting goalkeeper.

The 17-year-old Pulisic made a splash with the Germans this year, as he became the youngest player in Bundesliga history to score two league goals while logging regular appearances in manager Thomas Tuchel's team.

Klinsmann gave Pulisic his U.S. debut in a World Cup qualifying defeat of Guatemala in March, which made Pulisic the youngest American ever to appear in a Cup qualifier.

Guzan, who plays at Aston Villa, had been battling World Cup standout Tim Howard for the starting spot in goal. The 31-year-old featured in the United States' disappointing Gold Cup campaign last summer and the CONCACAF Cup playoff loss to Mexico later in the year.

In total, 15 members of Klinsmann's World Cup 2014 squad return for the competition, including mainstays Clint Dempsey, Tim Howard, Michael Bradley, Jermaine Jones, Fabian Johnson and DeAndre Yedlin. Eighteen of the players named have already participated in World Cup qualifying this round.

The team will be without striker Jozy Altidore, who suffered a hamstring injury while taking a penalty in Toronto FC's match against Vancouver last weekend.

Another notable absence is Seattle Sounders forward Jordan Morris, who is not included in the squad, despite being named to Klinsmann's 40-man provisional list of players earlier this month.

The United States will open the tournament against fourth-ranked Colombia on June 3 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Here's the full, 23-man squad:
