          U.S. midfielder Joe Gyau says he needs second surgery on injured knee

            United States international Joe Gyau will need a second surgery on his left knee, the player revealed on Friday.

            Gyau, 22, tore his meniscus during a friendly with the U.S. against Ecuador on Oct. 10. He was on track to return this month but is now set for a longer spell on the sideline.

            Borussia Dortmund II coach David Wagner told Ruhr Nachrichten that Gyau could be out for the rest of the season.

            The midfielder wrote on Instragram that he was heartbroken to hear the news from his doctor:

            Couldn't help but cry when the doc told me I needed a second surgery! But it's all part of the game. What doesn't kill you will make you stronger, And not even injury can stop me from achieving my dreams and goals! ��

            Gyau signed a one-year contract with Dortmund last summer, so he could be out of contract by the time he is healthy again. He has made just one substitute appearance for Dortmund's senior side but has played well with the reserves.

            The Tampa, Florida-born Gyau is a strong candidate to make the U.S. Olympic team in 2016, but now he must prove he can stay healthy.
