Uganda striker Derrick Nsibambi has completed a move to Egyptian Premier League side Smouha FC, joining The Blue Wave on a three-year deal.
The 23-year-old was part of the Cranes squad that were eliminated in the group stage of the African Nations Championship earlier this year.
"Nsibambi signed a three-year contract with Smouha FC on Tuesday," KCCA FC Public Relations Officer Moses Mwanje Magero told KweséESPN. "The player returns this Friday before he rejoins his new club for pre-season training.
"We are happy for Nsibambi, because joining a team in Egypt means he is also marketing KCCA FC," Magero added. "Remember, early this year we also had Isaac Muleme join a team in Egypt."
KCCA FC coach Mike Mutebi wished Nsibambi well ahead of his move to North Africa, but would not be drawn on Muhammad Shaban's future.
"I cannot talk about a player who has not showed up for training since returning from the Cranes' trip to Niger on Monday," he told KweséESPN.
Nsibambi has been instrumental for KCCA FC as he helped them win the Uganda Premier League title and the Uganda Cup in the 2017/2018 season.
He was also influential as they reached the group stage of the 2018 CAF Champions League.
Nsibambi's new club Smouha FC finished fifth in the Egyptian Premier League last season.
The other Ugandan players plying their trade in the Egyptian top flight include Hassan Wasswa (El-Geish) and defender Muleme at Al Assiouty Sports Club.
